A bit of a mixed bag

My little boy turned 16 months yesterday. We've finally made some fantastic progress with walking. While it is far (FAR!) from being his main method of getting around, he is now capable of walking across a room, holding things in each hand and taking a pause halfway across if he fancies it :-) So the only skill we have left to work on his being able to get up and down from standing without something to hold onto. Currently we need to have a 'start and finish' point or he won't even entertain the idea of walking somewhere. This will come with time though, he's already come so far in just a few short weeks and I know it won't be long.

I have many things to post about but no time right now so I'm going to do a quick list to remind myself what to write at a later date!

  • The Big Room Switcheroo!!! - We've switched a couple of our rooms around and our home now (or will once a final piece of furniture arrives tomorrow) makes much more sense. My brain is starting to unscramble.

  • My birthday present - The most expensive, all encompassing, life planner in the world. I am building it myself (the expensive starting point was a pink Filofax which I'm slightly too in love with) with all my own pages, tabs etc. hence why a) it's expensive and b) it's taking me so long! I'm convinced it's going to be the greatest thing I own and I promise I won't be hankering after another birthday present when March rolls around :-)

  • The return of driving lessons - Pretty self explanatory but I'll explain my game plan for this time around.

  • I'm convinced there was more but they're the only three topics my brain can come up with at 7:30am (after tricking me with a few weeks of lovely lie-ins, Oliver has reverted back to his old 7am wake up..... and worse in some cases!) so I'll leave it there for now.

Oh, I remembered another one! I've now sorted out a bit of structure to Oliver's week as this was something that bugged me a bit, being the control freak that I am (hey, I need something to write in my new planner!) I don't want to fill up every day but I like to have a couple of things that I know will be happening every week. So along with another term of baby swimming classes on Tuesdays, we have (after an extremely noisy free trial) signed up for a term of Pat-a-cake music classes up the road from our house. Both of these together include Oliver's absolute favourite things (water, shaking things, throwing things and hitting stuff with sticks) and best of all he gets to enjoy these activities with other children which he loves so it's win win!

    OK now I'm done. Really!
